Terms of Use

1. What FREQ is
FREQ is an app for driving together: navigation, voice radio in a convoy, and warnings. FREQ is developed by a private individual (see Imprint) and is currently free of charge.
2. Driving comes first
FREQ assists you; it does not replace your attention. Traffic law and signage always take precedence over the app. Do not operate the app while driving — use voice guidance and the radio.
This also applies to the hints in a convoy: "Hard braking in the convoy" is not an emergency braking assistant. The notice only comes if a member's phone detects the braking via GPS, that member has not turned sharing off, and the connection holds — often too late or not at all. It does not say who braked or where. Always keep your distance and watch the road yourself. The break suggestion, the battery hint and the speed-limit preview are only aids too: the break suggestion does not detect tiredness, and the speed limit on the sign applies.
3. Speed-camera warnings
Warnings about traffic enforcement are not legal in every country. FREQ shows them only where the app considers them permitted, and in some countries only after your explicit confirmation. You are responsible for complying with the law of the country you drive in — any fines are yours.
4. Weather, closures, webcams, prices and meets
This information comes from third parties. FREQ shows it as it arrives and gives no guarantee that it is correct, complete or up to date.
- Weather and weather warnings come from official weather services (including GeoSphere Austria, Deutscher Wetterdienst, EUMETNET – MeteoAlarm). A forecast can be wrong; warnings can arrive late or be missing. The warnings of the weather services themselves are authoritative. For warnings via MeteoAlarm, this notice of the weather services applies: "Time delays between this website and the www.meteoalarm.org website are possible. For the most up-to-date awareness information as published by the participating National Meteorological and Hydrological Services, please refer to www.meteoalarm.org."
- Pass and winter closures come from OpenStreetMap and are incomplete. Whether a road is closed is decided by the signs on site — not by the app.
- Webcams: FREQ only shows where a camera is and, when stopped, opens its page in your browser. Pictures, content, timeliness and image rights belong to the camera's operator (currently www.foto-webcam.eu). Only look at them when stopped or as a passenger.
- Fuel and charging prices, opening hours and the status of charging points come from official bodies, from the operators or from OpenStreetMap. The price at the pump or charger applies. Whether a station is open on a public holiday is worked out by FREQ itself; FREQ does not know local holidays. When in doubt, FREQ shows no opening hours.
- Garage and building entrances used as a destination point come from OpenStreetMap and may be missing, wrong or out of date.
- Community meets come from third-party calendars (treffeninfo.de, carnation.at). FREQ does not organise them; date and place may change or the meet may be cancelled.
5. Your account and conduct
You sign in with your Google account and keep your credentials to yourself. In particular, the following is prohibited: harassing or threatening others over the radio, deliberately false reports (e.g. invented speed cameras or hazards), and any attempt to disrupt the service or access other people's data. User reports are reviewed; abuse may lead to temporary or permanent suspension of your account.
Automatic provisional suspension: if three different accounts report the same account within 30 days, it is suspended automatically — without prior human review, for at most seven days. You see the reason in the app. You can object by e-mail at any time; the case is then reviewed by a human and the suspension lifted immediately if the reports were unfounded.
Planned rides: a planned ride is a private arrangement among the invitees; FREQ does not organise it. No racing — traffic rules apply. Races, time targets and rankings are prohibited. If you plan a large group ride, it is up to you to check whether an official permit is needed. Share a ride's link only with people who are meant to come: anyone who has it can add themselves and sees the names and answers of the others.
6. Availability and warranty
FREQ is under development. The service is provided without any guarantee of constant availability or of the accuracy of maps, routes, arrival times, or warnings (see also section 4). Map data comes from OpenStreetMap contributors and may contain errors.
7. Liability
Liability is accepted only for intent and gross negligence, and without limitation for harm to life, body, or health. Beyond that, liability is excluded to the extent permitted by law. Responsibility for your driving stays with you (sections 2 and 3).
8. Changes and termination
These terms may change as the app changes; the current version lives on this page. You may stop using FREQ at any time and delete your account (app settings, or by e-mail to support).
9. Governing law
Austrian law applies, excluding its conflict-of-law rules; mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence remain unaffected.
